Expansion anchors (and expanding anchor bolts)
Designed for use in masonry-based materials that provides holding power through expansion. Be sure to consider which of the two types of expansion anchors is best for the project you’re looking to complete, namely:
- Pre-expanded expansion anchors: inserted into the pre-drilled hole and then exerts force to create the holding power
- Un-expanded expansion anchors: requires the anchor to be set after it is installed into the predrilled hole in the masonry.
Expanding Screw Anchors
These inserts are typically made from plastic, metal or fibre and are used to help attach screws to brittle material/surfaces such as masonry or dry-walling. The most common of expanding screw anchors is the tapered plastic tube that is inserted into a closely-fitting drilled hole and then tapped in using a hammer (so as to be flush with the surface). A hole in the centre of the tube receives the screw which when tightened, expands outward so as to grip the screw anchor to the wall of the hole. These are available in various forms and lengths for varying levels of strength as required by your project.
