While generally an easy enough project, here are some tips to help you get the job done in an organised way that also keeps you and your work area clean and tidy:
- If you want a semi-permanent bond, wait until the glue has turned from white to transparent before you apply the tiles
- If you want a permanent bond, apply the tiles to the floor when the glue is still wet
- Use a roller, a brush, or even the smooth edge of a scrap piece of tile to smear/spread the glue onto your floor’s surface
- Make sure the floor is completely clean from dirt and dust
- Do not walk over floor space that you have applied glue to at all
- Mark where the centre of your room is and then apply your glue and tiles from a central point and work in a circular motion radiating outward to the edges of the room.
Remember:
A big part of why carpet tiles are the preferred option in many places is because of their flexibility. It isn’t often that these would be glued down as a permanent fixture because part of their attraction is that they are easy to clean and/or adjust when you can shift them around.
