Back to School: Everything Begins with BUCO
29 January 2025 – As schools reopen and learners across the country get back to their studies, BUCO is bringing smiles to classrooms nationwide with its Pencil Case Initiative. This initiative will see BUCO donate 38,000 pencil cases to primary school learners across South Africa and Namibia.
BUCO, renowned for supplying high-quality building materials to communities far and wide, is extending its commitment to building futures by supporting education.
“As a company deeply rooted in local communities, we believe that everything begins with BUCO. This Pencil Case Initiative is our way of equipping learners with tools to achieve their dreams—not just this school year, but throughout their education journey.” said TBCO’s Group Executive for Marketing, Mr. Lesego Moagi.

“We understand that many learners face challenges, and small acts of support can have a significant impact. These pencil cases are meant to motivate learners to give their best and stay hopeful about a brighter future. Our future employees, leaders, and customers come from these communities, and it’s our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to their aspirations,” Moagi added.
The Pencil Case Initiative will officially launch on 30 January 2025, with 400 pencil cases donated to each selected school. Schools across all nine provinces in South Africa, as well as Namibia, have been chosen for the initiative. Additionally, each school will have the chance to win a R20,000 prize towards a renovation project at their premises.
Beyond this initiative, BUCO offers a wide range of over 107,000 building materials available in-store and online. True to its philosophy that everything begins with BUCO, the company remains committed to building strong communities and creating opportunities for learners to thrive.
